Of all the wars fought by the United States that the American Civil War have the reports of ghosts. And the ghosts of the American Civil War appear to be a popular topic with plenty of people. In my forty plus years as a paranormal investigator have seen more ghosts and other paranormal activity around civil war era battlefields than anyplace else.
The battle of Gettysburg just keeps coming up. If you do not understand it was the greatest battle ever fought in America. So many amputations occurred in the construction that the surgeons had to throw out limbs outside the window to get them out of the way so that other operations could take place.
People have walked right into the most extreme haunted houses in Ohio and claimed to have seen a working room in complete operation complete with guys. Others tell of hearing the sounds of guys crying and begging for mercy coming from within the building. A large man wearing a leather apron is often seen on the stairs in the building hurrying along. Nobody knows for certain who he is but most folks think he is a confederate surgeon still working on his patients all these years later.
There were so many reports of ghosts at and around the battle in Gettysburg Pennsylvania that many paranormal researchers have arrived at the battlefield through the years to attempt and find if ghosts and other paranormal activity really do take place there. We have seen everything at the Gettysburg battlefield from full body apparitions to hearing a herd of galloping horses in which there were no horses. We have walked into places on the battle even in the summertime where it felt as though it needed to be freezing.
We watched one day as a young girl dressed in grey walked through the trees towards a bunch of individuals. When they saw her and looked towards her she just vanished. We truly feel that the young woman was Jennie who was the only civilian casualty of the battle of Gettysburg. She was struck by a stray bullet and killed while she was in her home in town making homemade snacks.
